Some Girls are by Courtney Summers

I read this book recently with a group of other people. This story is like "The Lottery" by Beth Goobie but much worse. In "The Lottery", one girl is terrorized by a group of girls for an entire year.
"Some Girls Are" is a frightening story about a bunch of girls who control the fate of others in a high school. The events in this story seemed far fetched but in talking with teachers, they said that this portrayal is realistic. They do things to one girl in an attempt to break her. One teacher said her school has a huge bullying problem.

Has anyone read this book? Is bullying a problem in your school?

  1. I read this book as well, and its still one of my favourites. I love how well Beth Goobie takes these storylines and characters and vividly brands them into your head as you read on and on. In this case, it was where Regina tries to get along with Michael during the early stages of their relationship.

At my school, bullying is not a problem. Everyone has their own group, which is reasonable, and I don't think anyone is left out. Not to say everyone's highschool experience is wonderful, but I believe its at least worthwhile and fun. I've had my fair share of rough times and the other amazing memories completely overwhelm them.
